Namaste! It is with great pleasure that we announce the continuation of IAALV’s esteemed tradition of commemorating Indian Independence Day. We cordially invite you to join us at Allentown City Hall on August 15th, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. as we celebrate the 77th Indian Independence Day. This momentous occasion is an opportunity for us to come together and honor the nation’s rich heritage and history. We look forward to your presence at this significant event.
Honorable Mayor of Allentown – Matt Tuerk will be joining us and will address the gathering. Post the flag hoisting refreshments will be offered at the venue.

History
August 15th, 1947, India became an independent nation.
Seventh largest country by area, the most populous country with over 1.4 billion people. Home to the over 5000 years ancient Indus Valley Civilization. Four world religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism—originated here, and Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Christianity, and Islam arrived in the 1st millennium CE and shaped its’ diverse culture.
India is a Federal Constitutional Republic governed under a Parliamentary System consisting of 28 States & 8 Union Territories. India is a pluralistic, multilingual, multi-religious and multi-ethnic society.
Since 1989, The Mayor of City of Allentown has been by us on this day giving the Lehigh Valley Indian-Americans the privilege of hoisting the Indian flag at the Allentown City Hall. Come join us in honoring our birth country in our adopted country.

We are all volunteers with a goal of brining community together and doing whatever we can to help our community.
