Born and raised in New Delhi, Nandini Sikand is the co-founder and co-director of her dance company, Sakshi Productions, a neo-classical and contemporary dance company. Her Odissi dance training began at the age of 7, and she has performed at Alvin Ailey, Lincoln Center, Joyce Soho, the United Nations, Danny Kaye Playhouse, (Hunter College), Brooklyn Museum of Art, Pace University, John Jay College, Manhattan Ensemble Theatre and The Graduate Center, CUNY.
Odissi is considered one of the oldest dance forms of India, and one of eight Indian classical dances. Originating in the eastern state of Orissa this dance is known for its sculptural forms and languid sensuality.
Nandini and her students have performed for IAALV in the past and recently at IAALV Diwali on December 2019. On Jan 26th, 2020 she will be performing Classical Odissi dance at Whitaker auditorium, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA for IAALV’s India Republic Day Celebration.
